NYC Gay Pride Parade

Sunday was the annual NYC Pride Parade.  I went with my friends Katie, Nancy, and Vanessa, and we had a blast!

I built a unicorn costume!  It's like one of those "person riding a horse" costumes.  It's not really built to last but it was a ton of fun to make and even more fun to wear!

(If you did not know that I was a dork before, you know now...no complaints, I have a lot of fun haha.
And, P.S., I am forever 5-years old at heart!)

Details:
Most of these are pretty blurry.  Just to get the general idea...
(yes, the legs are backwards.  they would not stay straight...
no pun intended)

And since I'm a dork I get to be embarrasing:

Thanks to my friends for not being too embarrassed to indulge
me in my antics :)

Credit for the photos below go to Vanessa Gonzalez:

Lesson learned: costumes are too hot for summer parades.
(but that won't stop me from trying)

Cheers!

Free Trade "Plus 30"

Let’s head over to the music scene.  Fellow SHS graduate Casey McGuire has been keeping it groovy with his musical career as emcee Free Trade.  Hot off the press is his album “Plus 30,” and I suggest you check it out.
“Plus 30” takes the spirit of creativity and collaboration to a whole new level, building an album with content from 30 musicians all over the US and Europe, thus the name “Plus 30.”  I have been following Casey’s music career since I first saw him perform with the Chad Davis Band in our high school auditorium, doing covers of Van Morrison and Jack Johnson with a few original songs in memory of old friends.  The striking thing about Casey’s musical endeavors in his past bands and now Free Trade is that the journey is less about “building a band” and more about establishing a creative network with a collective sound.  This really comes through in “Plus 30,” where it retains the sweet soulfulness found in CDB, the R&B, funk and jazz of Suburban Graffiti, the lyrically sassy and honest hip hop of Free Trade, along with an informed appreciation of world music.  Although Free Trade never looks back it also leaves no influences behind.

Dream Sequence from "The Fall"

Here is the dream sequence for "Alexandria" from "The Fall."
Created by Christoph and Wolfgang Lauenstein.

See more from the Lauenstein brothers here:

The Fall

Just saw the most incredible movie.
It is called "The Fall" by director Tarsem Singh.

My friend Kevin told me about this film a long time ago and I've finally gotten around to watching it.

It is surreal, visually beautiful, and above all else, an epic fantasy tale.  Definitely, definitely worth watching.  I highly recommend it to everyone!

To read more about it (don't read the whole synopsis or it will give it away!):

Glow-In-the-Dark "Marionettes"

This is awesome!
It's a clip of some engineering college students performing as glow-in-the-dark marionettes on "America's Got Talent."  I believe they call the act "Fighting Gravity."
