Up and Coming...

The head for my Dio de los Muertos rod puppet!

Anansi the Spider
Shadow Puppets

I created a rendition of the traditional Ashanti
African folk tale of "Anansi and his Six Sons."

It was performed to a slightly longer than 3 minute
voice track retelling of the story (me with a pretend
African accent haha), with Ladysmith Black Mambazo.

Special thanks to Kevin for helping me perform and Vika for
helping me photograph these difficult to capture shadows.

3 of Anansi's 6 sons:
See Trouble, Road Builder, River Drinker.

The other 3:
Game Skinner, Stone Thrower, Cushion.

An interpretive representation of Nyame,
God of All Things.

Fish, who ate Anansi,
along with his skinned counterpart.
My absolute favorite part of the performance.

Falcon, who flew away with Anansi in his beak.

Spider family on the web.

also, new puppet-exclusive carbonmade:
