Shadow Skeleton Bits

Building a shadow puppet skeleton.  It's scale is more true to human scale that I originally thought it would be.  Here are some of the pieces thus far:

Squid vs. Whale

We made a giant sperm whale and giant squid inflatable in my Materials class!  Yesterday we finished building them and installed them in the Main Gallery, and performed as well...it was AWESOME!!!  There was an epic battle in the sky (to "Final Countdown"), after a dramatic reading of an excerpt from Moby Dick.  I got to manipulate one of the tentacles from the second floor!

Video by Brian Gaston
(just a clip of the performance)

Apparently "187" is the California police code for murder.
We also had some cool projections: some textural water/color images and one of an old boxing match taking place under water.
A teardrop tattoo, murder significance.
Epic aqueous/air battle!
The Squid's eyes are whale and crossbones haha!
Check out dem suckers.
It was a good day.

Beetlejuice 4

Eyeballs!!!  Extended his hairline as well.  Almost done...just have to add the tongue (and possible spontaneous last minute details)!

Beetlejuice 3

Spent all day giving him a haircut.  The hair is finished now, but not in these photos.  Possible sideburns coming soon--debatable.  On deck, eyeballs.
